Soft texture, rich color, and plenty of creative possibilities—this week, we’re highlighting Giana, our polyester faux suede microsuede fabric.
Giana offers the look and feel of suede in a versatile, non-stretch fabric with a soft surface and a substantial 225 GSM weight. It works beautifully when a project needs polished texture, rich color, and more body than a lightweight apparel fabric.
One of Giana’s biggest strengths is its range of rich colors. Whether you want a classic neutral, an earthy shade, or a statement color, the collection gives you options that can be difficult to find locally.
The microsuede finish makes Giana useful for apparel, costumes, accessories, crafts, decorative accents, and selected upholstery-style projects. Because it is polyester faux suede, you get the visual depth of suede without using genuine suede.
Keep the direction consistent. Faux suede has a nap, so its color can appear lighter or darker depending on direction and lighting. Lay every pattern piece in the same direction before cutting.
Finish the edges. Freshly cut edges may fray, so consider a serger, zigzag stitch, binding, or another edge-finishing method suited to your project.
Test first. Use a scrap to test needle size, stitch length, pressing temperature, and interfacing before sewing the finished piece.
